The Rev. Michael Carney & Marsha Heron

Native Midwesterners Michael Carney (from Iowa) and Marsha Heron (Kansas) met in a small town in Northern California. They married in 1982 and raised a daughter and son, who've brought them three wonderful grandchildren. Spending time with the family is one of their greatest delights.
In the early years together, Michael worked as a preschool teacher and Marsha was a garden designer. They were separated from organized religion for many years before returning to their roots in the Episcopal Church in 1991. They grew more and more involved until Michael was ordained a priest and Marsha a deacon. They served congregations in California and Colorado before coming to Utah in 2016.
Michael's gifts include children's ministry, pastoral care and leadership development. Marsha is a nature educator and has started two community gardens. They both enjoy preaching and together they helped create an innovative ministry program for youth based on community service. Mission trips broadened the relationships they already had with native people.
Michael and Marsha are excited about being called to St. Elizabeth's in Whiterocks. They appreicate the welcome they've received and look forward to learning and growing in the years to come. The Spirit has been guiding and sustaining them and they want to help others grow closer to God.
